Piano, ages 5+
We strive to develop every aspect of the student’s musicianship by incorporating music history, aural skills, sight-reading, improvisation, composition, rhythm tapping, and duet practice. For more kinesthetic learners, movement is incorporated (e.g. dancing with scarves, conducting, marching to the beat, etc.). For more auditory learners, singing and pitch-matching is implemented into the lessons. Students will be exposed to a multitude of genres, learning to read standard music notation as well as lead sheets.
Piano teaching levels range from beginner to late intermediate.
Voice, ages 8+
The young voice is still developing and is therefore very fragile. It is best to refrain from any formal training until at least 8 years of age as to not inflict any long term damage.
Each voice lesson will begin with exercises intended to not only prep the voice for the allotted lesson time but also to develop the ear, enhance technique, expand vocal range, enforce good habits, and improve vocal agility and endurance. Sight-singing and rhythm practice are incorporated as well. The singer will also have solo pieces to work on to exercise the application of learned skills and techniques. Styles of vocal music range from pop to jazz to musical theatre to classical.
Voice teaching levels range from beginner to intermediate.
